City of Vacaville Migrates Asset Management System from Single- to Multi-Tenant Cloud Hosting, Realizes Improved Service, Support, and Speed

LOOMIS, Calif.—Feb. 7, 2023: TruePoint Solutions, provider of industry-leading professional services for local governments, today announced the successful migration of the Infor Public Sector (IPS) asset management solution to Infor’s multi-tenant cloud environment at the City of Vacaville, CA.

The migration to the multi-tenant cloud environment ensures the City benefits from the highest available uptime and reliability of the asset management system and its full range of functionality. Operating from the multi-tenant environment, the system is continually upgraded to the latest release without the need for any intervention or request by the City. Maintenance and updates are initiated and performed regularly by Infor. Since the go-live less than a month ago, the City has already experienced a notable increase in the speed and responsiveness of the system.

“The Infor Asset Management system has provided the City of Vacaville’s Public Works Department with the modern tools necessary to track and maintain the assets of our growing city,” states Brian McLean, Director of Public Works at the City of Vacaville. “With the transition to the multi-tenant hosting environment, staff are already seeing a more responsive application which facilitates data input and asset information retrieval while at their desktop or in the field with tablets running the Infor Field Inspector app.”

The solution is used primarily by the Maintenance Division of the City’s Public Works Department. The Division performs all tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure, parks, streets, facilities, water, and sewers - all managed within the IPS asset management system, including reported issues and service requests from the community. IPS allows work orders to be created and managed logically, maintains all associated data, and provides transparency in tracking and understanding the cost and lifecycle of maintaining each asset. Further enhancing efficiency, work orders are geographically coded, and staff can access all information from a tablet while in the field to see outstanding orders and progress through projects in a logical order based on location, thereby reducing the time to resolution.

Further enhancing efficiency, IPS automates the management and calculation of fees and allows customers to trigger bill generation. Staff time needed to address these tasks is reduced by the automation, as the process was previously performed manually, and was vulnerable to human error.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Vacaville on their continued digital transformation and move to a multi-tenant cloud. For the public sector, shifting to a cloud model brings significant gains in efficiency, productivity and security, and Infor is able to provide users with applications that directly support evolving constituent needs,” said Matt Breslin, executive vice president and general manager, Infor. “Infor applications designed specifically for the public sector will secure unified systems and remove organizational and data silos so teams can work more efficiently with real-time data and can be more confident in their decisions.”

Prior to the migration to the multi-tenant cloud environment, the City had been using the IPS asset management solution hosted in Infor’s single-tenant cloud environment since 2017. The solution has served the City well in managing the maintenance, repair, and lifecycle of its extensive list of assets, including over 600 lane-miles of streets, 300 miles each of water and sewer lines, 26 miles of creeks, and over 2000 acres of open space, in addition to all playgrounds, town squares, public areas, and more.

The City is forward-thinking in its approach to operations, and is diligent to stay abreast of technology and tools that will result in the greatest efficiency and effectiveness, and therefore the best service and environment for its citizens. The initial transition to the cloud-hosted solution allowed for many operational efficiencies, however over time, it became clear that the managed services of multi-tenant hosting would shift the burden of technology maintenance and updates to the vendor and enhance the solution itself, while ensuring ironclad cybersecurity and state-of-the-art disaster recovery.

The migration was performed by TruePoint Solutions. The professional services company was selected by the City based on their longstanding and successful working relationship. TruePoint leveraged its knowledge of the City’s operations, needs, and special considerations along with its experience and ongoing communication with the City to perform a smooth and timely migration. The project was performed without disruption to ongoing City operations and without the issues that can occur if a less experienced services company is used. TruePoint has consistently provided thorough and diligent service to ensure that the City’s outcomes would fully match its needs. The company is known for its exceptional service, availability, and willingness to go the extra mile whenever needed to produce the desired results.

“The move to a multi-tenant cloud environment will serve the City well, now and into the future,” states Ernie Phillips, Infor Team Manager at TruePoint Solutions. “The City has a predisposition to keep its operations in step with advances in technology as a means to perform efficiently and provide top-level service to its citizens. It’s gratifying to have a role that supports the City’s progress in achieving and maintaining excellence in its operations and service.”
